Kindergarten 2021

Starting school is a significant event in the life of children and their families. Children can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn 5, on or before 31 July that year. By law, all children must be in compulsory schooling by their 6th birthday. When your child starts school is an individual decision. You may wish to discuss this with your child's preschool teacher, carer, doctor or your local primary school. Our teachers are trained to work with your child regardless of their age or level of development. Children develop at different rates and learn skills in different ways. Your school will respond to the needs, learning styles and rates of progress of individual students. Schools also plan learning experiences based on the skills students bring with them to school.

Strong relationships and information sharing between families, early childhood settings and schools help support a child's successful transition to school. The staff of Crestwood Public School look forward to meeting you and your child, and a long partnership in their education.

Orientation Days

Orientation days are held towards the end of the year to welcome children starting Kindergarten the following year. This year, orientation days will be held:

Session 1    11th November – 9:15am – 10:45am

Session 2   18th November – 9:15am – 10:45am

Session 3   25th November – 9:15am – 10:45am

To give each child the most positive start to school in 2021, all Kindergarten 2021 children are expected to attend each session unless they are unwell. If your child is unwell on the day of orientation, please contact the school office.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parents will be required to complete an External Visitors to School Site form (either on paper or electronically) for each visit. To reduce the number of adults on school grounds and with the aim to minimise the risk to the school community, we respectfully request that one parent brings your child to orientation. Parents and carers are unable to remain on site and will be required to leave after signing their child into school for the duration of the orientation session. We request that parents arrive at 10:45am to collect your child and leave as soon as possible.
