Library

At Crestwood Public school we are fortunate to have an attractive and well-resourced library for the benefit of our students and staff. It is an exciting learning space that promotes lifelong learning and a love of reading.

Our Teacher Librarians are Mrs Bronwyn Wilson and Mrs Deepal Shah.

Each week all classes visit the library for a scheduled lesson. The focus for these lessons is:

  • learning about the organisation of our library and how to use it effectively
  • learning about authors and illustrators
  • developing an appreciation for literature
  • developing research skills such as skimming and scanning, note-taking and summarising
  • using a variety of technology applications including iPads to present work
  • learning how to evaluate information for reliability
  • using technology effectively as part of the research process

Students are given the opportunity to borrow each week during their library lessons. All students need a library bag so they can care for their books. Library bags can be purchased from our Uniform shop.

The library is open at lunch for students to visit. Lunchtime activities include quiet reading, drawing, board games, computers and research. Students can also borrow books during lunchtimes.
